Video: Nindy Kaur and Culture Shock ‘Save The World’

Culture Shock have put out Culture Shock 2.5: The LegalTender Mixtape and now their collaboration with Nindy Kaur is getting the video treatment! The song is titled “Save the World” and is going viral with both acts’ fan groups. In fact, Culture Shock claims the mixtape has over 50,000 downloads in less than 2 days.

The clip compiles past performance footage, scenes in Dubai, and studio sessions in one video. Talking about the collaboration, Nindy Kaur shares, “Working with Culture Shock on this track has been amazing experience. Baba Kahn and the boys are great producers. When you’re in the studio with Lomaticc and Sunny Brown, magic is bound to happen. It didn’t feel like we were working together for the first time; there was great musical chemistry.”

The song has grown on me and the video is added buzz to the song, not a music video in my opinion. Be sure to get your copy of the song on Culture Shock’s Facebook fanpage.

Video Look-A-Likes: Culture Shock’s ‘Gaddi Remix’ & Culture Shock’s ‘Bombay Bo’

Culture Shock is ending their mixtape challenge with the release of their third music video for the song “Gaddi Remix.” The trio was in Dubai on a budget and time crunch and the videos were the challenge.

“Gaddi Remix” takes us to Club Sensation at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dubai on the night of September 15, 2011. The trio was booked to perform and they took their cameras to catch the footage. While club footage is less than creative, the trio, the excitement, we saw it all from them before.

Culture Shock’s debut music video for the track “Bombay Bo.” This video took our trio to the stage performing for a crazy audience. The difference between the two videos comes in the form of venue lighting. “Bombay Bo” is a concert setting while “Gaddi Remix” is a night club. Also “Bombay Bo” has the subplot of the girls getting to the space where Culture Shock was performing adding content to the video.

Essentially “Gaddi Remix” feels like a cheaper version of “Bombay Bo” or a behind the scenes video. Regardless, I am loving this song.

Video: Culture Shock Unveil ‘World’

Part II in the Mixtape Challenge video series is the music video for “World.”

I am so glad we know this video was free because it’s nothing special. The song puts you in a trance as it is slow and Lomaticc seems to only have two lines.

Sunny Brown salvages the track with some oomph and life.

First Culture Shock song I’m not feeling.

Video Look-A-Likes: Rick Mereki’s ‘Move’ & Culture Shock’s ‘Drum Roll’

Culture Shock kick-off the month of March with the release of the music video for “Drum Roll.” This song is part of their latest music release Legaltender 2.5 and just one video in a series of three videos shot in Dubai within a 24 hour window.

The video compiles all the footage expected sweating on the beach, walking in the aquarium, and chilling by the malls, we knew what to expect because we saw the making for the video before the official release. The editing is what brings the video together in a very fun, graphic way. While Lomaticc and Sunny walk toward the camera lens, their scneray changes. While cool…not original.

Just a couple months ago, “Move” went viral. “3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food…. into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films= a trip of a lifetime.” Rick Mereki, Andrew Lees, and Tim White went on quite a trip and shared it in the fashion of walking the streets and the backgrounds always changing.

Props to Culture Shock’s video editing team so taking what could have been a lame video to something cool, but originality is not in the marks this time around.

Video: Culture Shock is ‘Ex’d Up’

Culture Shock have finally dropped the video for “Ex’d Up,” I have my verdict and I am not too thrilled.

I caught the trio performing in New Jersey where they actually played this clip while they performed. I hoped it wasn’t the music video, but it is. With the hype about “Universal Music Group” and the “approvals” to get the video done, this just doesn’t cut it for a mainstream release.

The boys are smashing things, not with the theatrical dramatics a video requires, the are using a lightbulb as a microphone, the wardrobe is high school casual and the list goes on. Lomaticc’s Bollywood hands don’t work in the video either (draw a heart in the air, really?). Maybe I just expected way too much.

The video concept seems juvelinlle with burning the teddy bear.  The “I Miss You” and “Come back” typography take this song from strong and painful to puppy love which is the vibe I never got when listening to the song.

I love “Ex’d Up” so I will pretend the video never happened. Perhaps next time Culture Shock.

Culture Shock Experiences the ‘Wrath of Kahn’

DJ Baba Kahn takes the spotlight and reminds us he is an accomplished deejay and ultimately the mastermind behind the trio Culture Shock with the release of Wrath of Kahn.

The DJ Mix is just shy of 30 minutes long. We hear new songs titled “Gaddi In My Way,” “Beautiful,” “Nothing Compares 2 You,” and “Drumroll.” Mixed between the Culture Shock samples are some dubs, remixes, Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Drake, and Jay-Z. I love the whole set!

The most recent release from the trio was their single “Ex’d Up” for which we are keeping an eye out for the video. Before that they kept us engaged in the summer series Dub Tuesdays where familiar Mainstream and Bollywood songs were remixed, remade, and mashed-up.

However, it was a couple years ago that the trio came together and released Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition and won all of us over. We got the hits “Avenue,” “Picture Perfect,” “Bombay Bo…” essentially ever song on the EP was loved!

Talking about the release, Baba Kahn says, “The DJ Mix was an idea we came up with while recording the mixtape. I was excited to get the music out to fans and what better way than to give the fans a preview of all the new tracks mashed up with today’s biggest hits.”

“It was amazing to see Baba Kahn in action. When a DJ is in his element and doing what he loves to the energy in the room is amazing and we could see why Baba Kahn quickly became one of the biggest DJ’s globally” Lomaticc comments, who assisted on production of the DJ mix.

Wrath Of Kahn is available for free download at The Official Culture Shock Fanpage.

Stay tuned for Culture Shock2.5 Legaltender the Mixtape releasing February 7, 2012.

Culture Shock to Drop ‘Wrath Of Kahn: The Legaltender DJ MIX’

Culture Shock and back with avengence!

The group has been busy working on new music since Culture Shock 2: Blackmarket Edition was released; however, the group has been relatively quiet with releases. Yes this summer we enjoyed Dub Tuesdays, but with a pending music video release for “Ex’d Up,” as a fan, I want more.

Culture Shock have announced that they are going to drop Wrath Of Kahn: The Legaltender DJ MIX January 11 to kick of 2012 and their comeback with music.

Next month, Culture Shock are set to drop Culture Shock 2.5 LEGALTENDER- The Mixtape on February 7.

The group has been touring and managed to keep their set fresh, but the new music will only help.

Interview: Culture Shock Talk About New Music!

Culture Shock consists of Baba Kahn, Lomaticc, and Sunny Brown. This group has been entertaining crowds for a couple years and have plenty more entetaining to come! With a new record deal and U.S. tour on the horizon, I caught up with Culture Shock to get some details on  the new music!

DHH: Congratulations on the record deal! When were you signed? Culture Shock: The deal has been in negotiation for over a year now and officially announced recently. It was a matter of ensuring both parties had the same end goal in mind. During negotiations we were looking out for DesiHits and Universal Island just as much as they were looking out for us so it was a bit odd in that sense. In the end everything worked out!

DHH: How were you approached by DH! UMG?
Culture Shock: A few phone calls and a trip to head offices is all it took to start the process. They both had been following us online for quite some time and were fans of the CULTURE SHOCK sound. The fan base we had built online was what sealed the deal so to speak.

DHH: We know you have been touring and dropped “Ex’d Up” on stage before, granted before the song was mastered, but when did you first create “Ex’d Up?”
Culture Shock: Ex’d Up was actually created over a year ago and sat in our vaults. We enjoyed touring it and the crowd reaction to it. When we decided to release it we took it back into the studio and reworked it to a point we thought it was ready to release.

DHH: Who wrote the lyrics for “Ex’d Up?”
Culture Shock: We all had input in the lyrics but I would have to say Lomaticc started much of the process

DHH: Did you go through a break-up?
Culture Shock: No. The song was written more from the point of view of a guy going through a breakup. I believe Lomaticc was watching something and the usual couple breaking up was happening and everything was about the girl. The inspiration then came, but what about what a guy goes through as well. Hence Ex’d Up was born.

DHH: Tell us a bit about your video concept.
Culture Shock: Without revealing too much we wanted to go with something unique. Not the usual clubs, girls, cars thing. We got a hold of some of the best equipment possible on the market and one of the hottest up and coming directors in Canada Jason Mattos. The concept is simply conveying the emotions of a break up in our “unique” fashion.
